Afan Lodge approached Pixelhaze after a recommendation from a mutual client. They already had an existing website which was made in 2012 at the time the website was made it would’ve been considered professional and modern, as design styles continue to develop and change over time it began to look quite outdated. It was due an update to bring it to the 21st century.
Pixelhaze was approached to create a website and brand identity which made Farmers Against Misinformation (F.A.M) look like a credible, reliable source. F.A.M needed to present the facts in a professional manor whilst remaining non bias.
Such a system could not be achieved within our usual online website builder Squarespace so, to create our solution, we switched to the learning platform Moodle. Within Moodle, we created a bespoke template around the Ysgol Calon Cymru brand guidelines which allowed users to easily login and navigate their way through their courses and subjects.
Using the images and videos provided by Steve, we used a full-width site to properly display these images throughout the site through large banners and image blocks. Accompanied by these images, we played with the Steve Jones brand to create animated icons and videos which helped to show Steve’s role in expeditions. The animated GIFs helped add personality to the site whilst not distracting from the professional feel.
Our solution offered a professional, high-quality website which used quality photos supplied by Ruth Rees Photography to speak for itself. Karin was herself, her brand so we used photos of herself in the main banners in the site. People would want to be greeted with a friendly, welcoming face on entering the site.

Accompanied with a neutral charcoal and blue colour pallet which mirrored the interior design of the Lodge, it gives a minimal, modern appeal which any holiday maker would be attracted to.
Following on from an exciting rebrand which included a new name for the 30 year-old dance charity, Powys Dance, we helped the team to redevelop the website to match the new look. We also needed to transfer all content from their existing Squarespace website as part of the process.
