Established as a Hotel & Restaurant in 1896, the historic Caer Beris Manor House was once the home of Welsh Kings and later Lord Swansea.
Situated in Builth Wells, the hotel is set in 27 acres of parkland, surrounded by the river Irfon, offering affordable luxury, an excellent restaurant and high quality accommodation.
The Project
Caer Beris contacted us in the autumn of 2018 with the view to revamp their existing website and brand. The main focus of our website brief was to offer an impression of affordable luxury, showcasing the natural charm of the hotel’s rural setting in Mid Wales. We set about restructuring the menu system for ease of use, decluttered a number of key pages and combined photos from our managed photography shoot (expertly delivered by Magenta Photography) and our client’s own lifestyle shots.
Our Solution
The outcome perfectly blends the modern and traditional, combining photos of the grand, historic rooms at the manor with the leading edge environmental policy being carried out at the hotel, including Tesla and electric car charging ports. We have simplified the brand colour scheme and have made used of clear banding and colour contrasts to ensure the website is easy to read on all devices, from large scale desktops to smartphones.
We worked from Caer Beris for key areas of the project to allow us to design the new Squarespace website in a way that was in-keeping with the hotel design. We also delivered a managed photo shoot to improve on the existing image stock and towards, the end of the project, we provided a number of training sessions with the Caer Beris team to allow them to fully get to grips with the Squarespace admin area.
